About Us Paul Gurney
Paul began playing live music in the late '70s as the lead vocalist / guitarist with Wellington country rockers Wells Fargo, a band that included his older brother Mel.
He went on to play in a number of successful Wellington bands including the Buicks, Jigsaw and the Hi-Hats. Many of these line ups included his long time musical compadre Stuart McIntyre.
Paul now lives in Auckland and plays in the country blues / roots band The DeSotos, plus the duo Acoustica.
In recent years he has been increasingly drawn to the funky swamp blues sound of New Orleans, and attended the Jazzfest there in 2004 and 2005.
As well as doing lead and backing vocals, Paul plays electric and acoustic guitars, mandolin, bass and a little blues harp.
He is available for studio session work and can be contacted at
